Dear Romance Author,
The 2018 Orange Rose Contest is an amazing annual event that does two things for the emerging author. You do not need to be a member of RWA to enter the contest. Let me tell you about the first and second judging rounds.
In the first round which begins at the end of April, every entry receives three critiques from published authors who give specific feedback. Purposeful ideas are the ones that catapult your book to the top so that readers are engaged. Authors learn so much from each other. In July entrants receive feedback. Some who are finalists receive certificates and move to the second round.
In the second round, finalists' manuscripts are sent to top agents and editors in the romance publishing industry, and they also send two or three critiques for your entry. Because they read the entries, they often request the full manuscript. Many finalists find the agent or editor at a publishing house.
Please visit The Orange County Chapter of Romance Writers of America and take a look at the flexible new rules for entering the Orange Rose-- tab over to the guidelines. You do not need to be a member of RWA to enter the contest.
Warm regards,
Kathleen Rowland, Chair
