#romanticidea from Elizabeth @Delisi LADY OF THE TWO LANDS

Elizabeth Delisi shares her #RomanticIdea to enjoy this summer.  Invite your guy to the beach on a cloudy day. Walk the shoreline, picking up shells. Have a picnic while watching the waves.

LADY OF THE TWO LANDS

Blurb: One minute, Hattie Williams is in a museum, sketching a gold necklace that belonged to Hatshepsut, first female Pharaoh of Egypt; and the next, she's lying in a room too archaic to be the museum, with a breathtakingly handsome, half-naked man named Senemut bending over her.

Hattie soon discovers she's been thrust into the body and life of Hatshepsut, with no way back to her own time. Tuthmosis, the heir to the throne, hates her; the High Priest of Amun and the commander of the army want to kill her and Tuthmosis; and the best bathroom facilities in the country are the equivalent of a cat-box.

To make matters more difficult, she's falling helplessly in love with Senemut, and soon, she's not sure she even wants to return home. To protect Tuthmosis from assassination, the lovers arrange to put Hattie on the throne. But, what should she do when she suddenly finds herself, an obscure artist from Chicago, crowned ruler of all Egypt?

Excerpt: Hattie banged on the door. “Is anyone there? Let me out!” She shouted and beat on the door with her palms, but all was ominously silent. If someone had been watching her, they had no intention of helping her out of her dilemma.

At last, resigned to her fate, she returned to her sketchpad. “If I’m going to be stuck in here, I might as well finish my work,” she murmured. “Tom’s bound to come back—I’m sure he will.” Her voice echoed unconvincingly in the dusty, claustrophobic room.

Picking up her pencil, she focused deliberately on copying the tiny hieroglyphics with extreme precision. Gradually, she became absorbed in her work and forgot her predicament. Minutes flowed by with the only sound in the room the scratching of her pencil on the paper.

At last, she completed the final symbol on her detailed drawing and set down her pencil with a twinge of disappointment. She was curiously drawn to the glittering possession of the ancient, yet strangely modern woman. Hatshepsut had ruled Egypt fifteen hundred years before Christ, at a time when women were considered no more important than servants or dogs. How had she managed it?

The vagrant breeze whispered past her face again, leaving a whiff of exquisite perfume in its wake. A rustle, like the caress of costly linen against bare skin, drew her attention. She felt a strong presence, though she knew she was alone in the tiny room.

“Touch it.”

The words were so faint, Hattie wasn’t sure she’d actually heard them.

“Who’s there?” she asked, though she didn’t expect to get a response. The room was too small to hide anyone.

“Touch the necklace.”

Hattie spun around, searching for the source of the barely audible words. “Tom, is that you? If it’s you, I don’t think this is funny! Open the door right now.” She thumped it with her fist for emphasis.

There was no response.

Hattie turned back to the exquisitely fashioned falcon. Maybe it was her overworked imagination playing a trick on her, but the advice seemed sound. Perhaps if she touched the necklace, she could make a connection—psychic, empathic?—with the long-dead monarch. The necklace was strangely compelling, like a long forgotten yet treasured memory.

She reached out slowly, cautiously. As her fingertips gently grazed the golden bird, an electric shock pulsed through her and a sudden wave of dizziness sapped her strength.

“Come to me,” the ghostly voice whispered, stronger now. “Come to me. I have need of you.”

The sweet, cloying scent of incense filled Hattie’s nostrils, and flashes of light exploded behind her eyes. Her vision blurred; she felt as if she were reeling, falling down a long, dark tunnel. Gasping, she reached out blindly for something, anything, to steady herself.

Her fingers skimmed across the surface of the table and fastened around the necklace. Clutching it, she fell heavily to the floor as everything went black.

Rekindle the spark! #romanticidea and @Carmen_Books Till Life Do Us Part!

Here are Carmen Stefanescu's #romantic ideas to rekindle the spark :

                 Learn a romantic foreign language.

Take an intro-class together for a language that neither of you speak -  French, Italian, Spanish or Romanian  simply sound romantic -  and practice whispering sweet nothings into each other’s ears, in that new language!

Cuddle up together in a horse-drawn carriage ride.

You’ll probably feel like you are in a romantic comedy, and that’s a good thing.

                       Read each other’s Tarot Cards.

Take turns reading each other’s fortunes using Tarot Cards. Even if you don’t believe in divination, it will make for one fun evening spent together.

Go on a ghost tour together.

Find the nearest ghost tour in your city and head out on the adventure together. At least you’ll have someone’s hand to hold onto should things start to get a little spooky.

Feed each other fondue at home.

It really doesn’t get sexier than feeding each other chocolate dipped strawberries.

Barbara Heyer can hear voices of dead people. They whisper of their deaths, seek comfort for those left behind, and occasionally even warn her about future events. But when Barbara’s brother, Colin, is accused of murder, it will take more than her gift to prove his innocence.

Becoming smitten with the handsome investigator, Detective Patrick Fischer, is a serious complication given his assignment to her brother’s case. Barbara senses there is something far deeper—and perhaps much older—than the surface attraction between them. Could that be why she’s visited by a mysterious woman named Emma in her dreams? Could past life regression tie all the seemingly unconnected events together?

Barbara and Patrick must overcome heartache to find the truth to save Colin, and perhaps themselves.

Author Bio

Carmen Stefanescu resides in Romania, the native country of the infamous vampire Count Dracula, but where, for about 50 years of communist dictatorship, just speaking about God, faith, reincarnation or paranormal phenomena could have led someone to great trouble - the psychiatric hospital if not to prison.

Several of her poems were successfully published in a collection of Contemporary English Poems, Muse Whispers vol.1 and Muse Whispers vol.2 by Midnight Edition Publication, in 2001 and 2002.

Excerpt:

With a determined stroke of her hand, Barbara applied a blob of scarlet paint on the flower, a slender poppy swaying in the breeze in the middle of a yellow wheatfield. She took a step back and admired the effect. It looked perfect in the August sunlight. She’d received an order from the friend of an acquaintance, whose wife loved flowers and owned a greenhouse, and the miniature canvas now completed the set Barbara painted with the theme Seasonal Flowers.

Sighing, she dipped the brush into another small pot of magenta paint and applied her signature at the bottom of her painting.

A whisper came, close behind her. “Beautiful!”

“Oh, Lord!” Barbara cried, as she dropped the paintbrush. Splashes of magenta scattered all over the floor. She turned her head to see the intruder, and to her bewilderment, realized she was alone.

“Colin, is that you? What kind of a joke is this? Are you in here? You’re frightening me.” She raised her voice to be heard in the front room. No answer. She picked up the paintbrush from the floor.

“Colin.” She called louder, a tinge of worry in her voice.

The only answer she received was a giggle coming from behind her. A tingling sensation swept across the back of her neck, and her fingers tightened on the brush. She didn’t turn her head again. No use for it. There would be no face in sight.

“Well, well, well. Visitors,” she whispered, shaking her head.

My mom took me one day to see a field with poppies. I touched their faces, though I didn’t pick them. Mommy said flowers cried when people took them away.

“What do you want from me? Who are you?” she asked, her voice steadier now, though she didn’t need to speak aloud to her visitor. Talking in her mind always worked well enough. There would be no harm from the one who spoke to her. A faint greenish light glimmered on top of her canvas.

I’m Alfie. When you see my parents tell them, please, I love them, and tell them not to cry for me anymore. I’m happy here now.

Barbara’s eyebrows shot up. Her thoughts asked, Do I know your parents? Who are they?

You painted those flowers for my mother, Sarah. Sarah and Richard Andrews.

My goodness. Yes, indeed. Richard Andrews is the one who ordered these made for his wife. I had no idea her name was Sarah or that she had lost a son.

They did. Me. Alfie. I died last year. I ran for the ball, out of our yard, and a speeding car ran over me. I’m in the spirit world now. Tell them I didn’t suffer.

Barbara sighed and put the paintbrush in a small tin beside the canvas. Oh, Alfie, I’m so sorry for you and for your family. It’s always heartbreaking for parents to lose their children. I’ll tell them what you want. I hope they don’t think I’m crazy.

Promise me you’ll talk to them right away, please. My mom grieves so much. She thinks it was her fault. She bought me that ball a day before the accident. Tell her not to blame herself.

The small glimmering light, like a fire fly, settled on the small address book near the telephone. It was the only way she could see the spirits contacting her.

Spotlight on Charlotte Howard and her book, Four Letter Words, #Tirgearr

Please welcome talented author, Charlotte Howard!
I'm turning the spotlight on her book, Four Letter Words from Tirgearr Publishing

Blurb for Four Letter Words by Charlotte Howard:

Paige Holmes has made her choice. But as she begins to get her life back on track, she also starts to question her decision.

Then, the letters arrive. When Paige finds herself in trouble once again, she must decide who she can trust.

Will she go back to the one she denied, or will she stand by her choice?

Love and lust are, after all, both Four Letter Words.

Excerpt:

Laying my head back against the black leather seats of the Jag and gazing
ahead, I lifted a finger and touched my lips that were swollen from his kiss. The
weariness of the past few weeks was beginning to take over, weighing on my eyelids
as they began to droop. I should have been reassured by the man sitting next to me.
I shifted in my seat so I could watch him as he drove on. He was a force that
even nature had no hold over. There was an urge to reach out and cling to his broad
bicep, a need to feel the security of his physical strength, aching somewhere deep
inside of me.
We didn’t speak as he pressed all his weight onto the accelerator, urging the car
until it was over the speed limit. I half expected the shine of blue lights to fill the
inside of the car, with sirens blaring around us. But they didn’t. Of course they didn’t.
Even if a marked car was to pass, I doubted Vance Ellery would slow down, and I
had even less that the police would attempt to pull him over. I suspected that the
personal phone number of every single high-ranking officer in the country, was
tucked away in a neat Rolodex on Vance’s desk or even stored in the memory bank
of his mobile phone for easy access.
The silence should have been soothing. I should have been able to let my lashes
flutter against my cheeks, and slip into a relaxing slumber. Instead the lack of
conversation added to the tension that built behind my eyes. I closed them, hoping
that soon I would drift off into a deep sleep, where I would be surrounded by falling
flowers, rainbows, and sunlight. Ha! If only I was deserving of such luck. There were
no pleasant dreams awaiting me after the sandman visited. Only nightmares wanted
to be part of my night. They tormented me, bringing memories that I’d tried to bury
and forget. They hounded the darkness, giving me nothing but misery and pain and
suffering. It was as though all my sins from a previous life had been rolled over into
this one.
If the visions of his face, the sound of his voice had been the only elements of
my slumber, then I might have been willing to slip away and let the desperation of
rest take me to the shadowed places I dreaded. My soul was destined for torture
though. I was to be punished for his crime.

Themepark #romanticidea @stacyjuba and her book, Fooling around with Cinderella!

Welcome, Stacy Juba.  Stacy is giving us ten theme park romantic ideas! You will find them later in the post. You will learn where Stacy became engaged.

Fooling Around With Cinderella

What happens when the glass slippers pinch Cinderella's toes? When Jaine Andersen proposes a new marketing role to the local amusement park, general manager Dylan Callahan charms her into filling Cinderella’s glass slippers for the summer. Her reign transforms Jaine’s ordinary life into chaos that would bewilder a fairy godmother. Secretly dating her bad boy boss, running wedding errands for her ungrateful sisters, and defending herself from the park’s resident villain means Jaine needs lots more than a comfy pair of shoes to restore order in her kingdom. First in the Storybook Valley series, a blend of sweet romance, chick lit, and fairy tale fun.

Excerpt:

Dylan scrutinized Jaine, arms folded across his royal blue shirt with the Storybook Valley logo stamped over the left in white block letters. “Do you wear contacts?”

“I have plenty of media contacts. Wait. Did you say wear contacts? You mean instead of these?” Jaine fingered the earpiece of her gold-rimmed glasses.

“Right. Contact lenses.”

She gave a nervous chuckle. “I scheduled a consultation in college, but was too squeamish to insert the lens. I was more comfortable in glasses.”

Was she really justifying her vision enhancement choices to her prospective new boss? Maybe he intended to discuss medical benefits. Or did he think she looked nerdy? What was the saying? Guys don’t make passes at girls who wear glasses? Not that she wanted him to make a pass even if he was hot.

“How blind are you without glasses?” Dylan persisted.

“You wouldn’t want to drive with me.”

“How about if you’re walking around a building? Are you in danger of hurting yourself?”

This interview had taken the Mad Hatter Freeway from Fairy Tale Land into Wonderland where nothing made a damn bit of sense. Did this guy have a glasses fetish, like those weirdoes with shoe fetishes?

“I should be okay. I take them off for special occasions.” In fact, Jaine’s older sister Bree, who was getting married in August, remarked just last week, “You are losing the glasses for my wedding pictures, right?”

What the hell. She’d be a good sport and hope Dylan would be so grateful to pick the brain of a real, flesh and blood, bespectacled person that he would appoint her marketing director. Jaine removed her glasses and the fine details of her surroundings fuzzed. She nodded toward the framed print hanging on a side wall, the picture a wash of symbols and colors. “I can tell that’s a park map, but the words and images smear together.”

And that was myopia in a nutshell. Jaine adjusted her glasses back into place so she could see his reaction. Dylan examined her with such intensity that a blush stained her cheeks. She patted her French braid, in case stray strands were straggling out.

“Here’s the situation,” Dylan said. “I took over the general manager position a few months ago. I’m evaluating possible changes and researching how other theme parks run. My grandfather and father have worked with a marketing firm for years to create our brochures, billboards, print, and radio ads.”

Jaine’s shoulders caved, imperceptible to him, but it felt as if her whole body was sinking.

No fairy tale job ending for her.

Interview @readangelaevans #RomanticIdea and her book, Hiding in Plain Sight

Welcome ,Angela Evans, author of spicy, fast-paced romantic suspense. Evernight Publishing recently released her first novel Hiding In Plain Sight. My oh my, Angela is sharing ten ways to keep the romance alive!

1. Never stop dating your partner
2. Remember the little things
3. Love notes are always appreciated
4. Hold hands
5. Always kiss goodnight
6. Always kiss good morning
7. Pick your battles-in any argument think “Do I want to be right, or do I want to end the argument”. There’s only one right choice.
8. Give gifts for “no reason”
9. Give your partner compliments when they least expect them
10. Put your phone down and have a conversation at least once a day, every single day.

Interview-- Angela Evans:

Do you outline your books or wing it? Describe your process.

I am a total pantser. I get an idea, usually just one scene, or a backstory for a character and I just start writing to see where the character and the story will take me.

What genre(s) do you write in? Why?
I write romantic suspense. I love reading romantic suspense and creating the dual story lines that genre is known for. In romantic suspense it’s not just about falling in love and living happily ever after, there is a bad guy out there who is trying to do something evil, and that has to be resolved before, or alongside the happily ever after.

Has your muse always known what genre you would write and be published in?
No, I first fell in love with historicals and thought I would write those but if I’m being totally honest I found the research exhausting and way too much like work. Then I discovered contemporaries and started writing those. It wasn’t until I read my first romantic suspense and fell even more in love with the genre of romance that I knew that’s what I was meant to write.
What is your least favorite part of writing?
In a word, editing!

Can you tell us about your road to publication?
My road to publication is long and winding, but to outsiders it probably seems like an overnight success. I first started submitting completed manuscripts to publishing houses before my son, who is now almost 13, was born. Then life got in the way and I stopped writing completely for several years. After starting a mom blog I reconnected with my passion for creating emotions and painting pictures with written words and started writing once again. That first novel I started back with became Hiding in Plain Sight. I had thought I would self-publish but had submitted to a handful of smaller houses just to see what would happen, after 2 requests for revisions from publishers I received an offer for a contract from Evernight Publishing. I did my research and heard only great things about the publisher so I signed my contract in November of 2015, and my book was ‘live’ on February 11 of 2016.

Please tell us your experiences with social media. What are your favorite and least favorite parts of it?
My day job includes managing social media for the companies I have worked for so I love being on social media. Readers will find that I’m active online and they can really get to know me and what’s coming next by connecting with me on Facebook and Twitter.

Do you have or belong to a writing organization? Which one?
Romance Writers of America (RWA) as well as my local chapter, Missouri Romance Writers of America and the romantic suspense online chapter, Kiss of Death. I’m currently serving as the VP of Publicity for my local chapter.

Tell us about your hero or heroine. Give us one of his/her strengths and one of his/her weaknesses.
My heroine, Kierra, suffers from panic and anxiety attacks following some trauma that happened when she was a teenager. I loved writing her because she has tremendous growth over the course of the story and not only finds her inner strength but becomes kind of a kick ass woman I’d love to hang out with before the story is finished. My hero is a small town sheriff and all around Mr. Protector for everyone he cares about. Writing his story was great because I knew I didn’t want the traditional Prince Charming who swoops in to save the damsel in distress so he is very supportive but encourages Kierra to find her own way towards strength and saving herself in the end.

What do you read? Do you read different genres when you’re writing versus not writing?
I love authors like Roxanne St. Claire, Cindy Gerard and Laura Griffin. Those are my auto-buy authors and who I want to be like “when I grow up!

You’re having a party. What character do you hope doesn’t attend? Why?

The one I hope doesn’t attend is easy, Jack Bennett. You’ll have to read the story to find out why…

Get to know more about Angela, and her books, by visiting her online. You can find her at her website, as well as on Facebook and on Twitter.

#RomanticIdea @rpaigebooks Across the Lake (True North Book 4)

Please welcome Rachelle Paige who will share her Romantic Idea to enjoy this summer:

Nothing beats a patio filled with candlelight, soft music, and sharing a dessert with your sweetheart on a warm night under the stars. Turning the backyard into a favorite date spot means more couple time after our kids head to bed.

Blurb:  Nearly a year and a half after his pregnant girlfriend left him for her childhood sweetheart, Ryan Isaacs is finally moving on. He’s bought and renovated a three-flat in Bayfield, Wisconsin. Living in a tiny town across Lake Superior from his ex wouldn’t be his first choice. Staying near his young son, however, made the decision for him. Life is good. But he definitely doesn’t have time for distractions; especially not the beautiful new tenant who’s renting the top floor. Not that she’d be interested in him anyway.

Lauren Clark has to focus. After a decade in Chicago, moving to the middle of nowhere was not the next stop she pictured for her career. Years of soothing bridezillas has worn her out. And being left at the altar has her questioning her purpose. She’s agreed to fill in for her friend Francois at his post as city events manager while he’s on sabbatical for a year. If she has her way, she’ll be gone long before then. There would be no point to starting something with the hunky landlord.

Excerpt:  Lauren crouched to adjust Waffles’ sweater, her knee momentarily dropping to the frozen sidewalk. Fire burned through her jeans, and she jerked her leg back up and nearly lost her balance. Falling over backward on the ice and injuring herself didn’t sound like a great way to spend a lazy Sunday morning. But then again, it wasn’t like her current activity of dressing up her dog and taking pictures for Instagram was all that exciting either.

“Okay, you look perfect, don’t move.”

Sliding out of her gloves, Lauren retrieved her phone from her coat pocket. Positioned on the hillside, with the icy lake in the background on a diagonal, with her bright pink sweater in stark contrast to the snow surrounding her, Waffles was a picture of big city sophistication in the remote wilderness. Settling in at her new job and practically hibernating inside the apartment building, Waffles’ fans were leaving terse messages looking for an update.

“Hold it. Stay there and…done. Now, let’s get back inside before my fingers fall off.”

She stuffed the phone into the down coat and struggled to move her fingers enough to slip back into the gloves. Waffles continued to hold her pose, ever patient for her owner. Lauren slowly stood up to her full height, rubbing her hands together, and stomping her feet in an effort to get the blood flowing.

They’d walked a little further than they had since becoming residents a little over a week earlier. Blowing on her hands for another minute, Lauren scanned the streets. Perched at the top of a hill on Rittenhouse Avenue, they had a clear view down toward the shops and restaurants of town. Lauren could hardly imagine the empty streets full of tourists, no matter what Francois and Ryan had told her.

Not that I’ll find out for myself.

Lauren stuffed her hands back into her pockets. Her feeble attempts at finding warmth weren’t improving the longer she stood outside. With a gentle tug on Waffles’ leash, she focused her attention on the sidewalk, careful to pick her way on the icy sections of pavement. But Waffles wouldn’t budge. Another, firmer, yank didn’t have any better effect on the dog.

In exasperation, Lauren swiveled on her heel to glare at the dog. But Waffles didn’t look at her. Instead, the dog sat on the ground, oblivious to the cold under her fur and wagged her tail slowly from side to side. Lauren followed the dog’s line of sight, shocked to see a running figure approaching them. When the man dressed in a sweatshirt and track pants approached the intersection mere yards away, Lauren recognized him and shivered. Ryan.
